Hydro-electric plants have a long standing record of destroying the environments they are built around. Have a look at the Yangtze River, the Columbia river, the draining of the Everglades and embanking the Lower Mississippi as cases in point why this method DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD. Please don't be so Naive as to assume the amazon will be any different. Are you so intent on destroying peoples welfare and destroying the environment for you own gain? Please stop resorting on archaic methods of energy production. There are so many new, better methods for energy production that will not destroy the very ecosystem you survive upon.

The dam would cause extinction to many species. Only one of them is Hypancistrus zebra. This catfish only exists in the Xingu. IBAMA has placed it on the list of endangered species and used it on their flag. Its export is forbidden since a few years. When the dam is built, it will be gone - forever. And this is just 1 example. The catastropic side effects of such dams can be seen in China. The enormeous disrespect that Brazil's government shows for its indigene people is a big shame. It's not too late to stop now what may cause a huge ecological desaster!
